(4) During first half of maneuver,
maintain wings level by scanning
horizon to each side of aircraft as
horizon disappears under nose
COMMON ERROR: Failing to
scan out both sides to ensure
wings level after the horizon disap-
pears from the view ahead.
(5) Maintain 4-g pull until reaching
optimum AOA (17 units); continue
optimum AOA over the top
COMMON ERROR: Failing to
maintain optimum AOA over the
top resulting in insufficient air-
speed to complete the maneuver.
(6) While on top, verify
(a) Wings level by looking at
outside horizon
(b) About 150 KIAS
(c) Optimum AOA
(7) Bring nose through horizon
(a) Keep wings level
(b) Align on section line reference
by looking back through top of
canopy
(c) Maintain optimum AOA
(8) Maintain optimum AOA until inter-
cepting 4 g
COMMON ERROR: Relaxing 4-g
back stick pressure before com-
pleting the maneuver.
