Complete prestall and aerobatic check-
list

Begin the maneuver
(1) At 300 KIAS
(2) On altitude
WINGOVER
(3) With power set to approximately
89% rpm
(4) On a prominent terrain feature or
section line for use as visual refer-
ence

Perform maneuver
(1) Select reference point on horizon
approximately 90 degrees from
heading of aircraft
(2) Raise nose smoothly, keeping
wings level to approximately
20
degrees noseup attitude before
starting roll
COMMON ERROR: Starting the
roll before raising nose 15-20
degrees, making it difficult to
achieve 45-degree attitude and
causing excessive airspeed over
the top.
(3) Roll in direction of reference point;
nose describes an arc above
horizon reaching maximum pitch of
45 degrees, with approximately
45 degrees of heading change and
45 degrees AOB
