(4) As AOB steadily increases past
45 degree AOB, start nose
smoothly downward in circular
path toward horizon
(5) After 90 degrees of heading
change, continue so nose passes
through horizon on reference
terrain feature, with 90 degrees
AOB and airspeed of approxi-
mately 150-170 KIAS
COMMON ERROR: "Burying
nose" during last half of maneuver
by exceeding 90 degree AOB.
(6) Reverse roll and decrease AOB as
nose falls through horizon
(7) Nose should describe similar arc
below horizon as arc above hori-
zon, reaching maximum pitch of
45 degrees nosedown, at approxi-
mately 135 degrees of heading
change and 45 degrees AOB
(8) Continue to roll out at constant
rate, increasing back stick pres-
sure to control airspeed and
attitude so aircraft returns to
straight and level flight
(a) At 300 KIAS
(b) 180 degrees from original
heading
(c) At approximately same alti-
tude as set at beginning of
maneuver
