IAF to FAF
a.
Navigation procedure
(1) Intercept/maintain course as published for the approach
(2) Report departing IAF altitude
(3) Descend to and maintain published altitude
(4) Intercept and maintain published course to FAF
b.
Aircraft control
(1) Reduce pitch to approximately 10 degrees nose down and
accelerate to 250 KIAS
(2) At 250 KIAS reduce power to flight idle, lower nose attitude and
trim for 250 KIAS
(3) Extend speed breaks (as required) and simultaneously apply
forward stick to offset the speed brake balloon effect
(4) Adjust nose attitude as required to maintain 250 KIAS at 4,000 to
6,000 fpm (approximately 10-15 degrees nose down)
(5) Start penetration turn at depicted altitude or one half your initial
altitude when not published: do not exceed 30 degrees AOB
