TACAN and VOR Procedures
b.
Aircraft control
(1) Lower nose and accelerate to 250 KIAS
(If required to increase airspeed)
(2) At 250 KIAS reduce power to flight idle, adjust nose attitude and
trim for 250 KIAS
(3) Extend speed breaks (as required) and simultaneously apply
forward stick to offset the speed brake balloon effect
(4) Adjust nose attitude as required to maintain 250 KIAS at 4,000 to
6,000 fpm (Approximately 10-15 degrees nose down)
(5) Start penetration turn at depicted altitude; or one-half your initial
altitude. When not published: do not exceed 30 degrees of bank
(6) Level off at published altitude
(a) 1,000 ft above level off altitude (do not exceed minute to
live rule): decrease nose attitude by 50% and retract speed
brakes
(b) At normal lead point (10% of VSI): adjust nose attitude for
level flight and increase power as required to maintain 250
KIAS
(7) At 5 to 7 DME from FAF
(a) Perform a level speed change to 200 KIAS
-
Reduce power
-
Extend speed brakes (as required)
-
Adjust nose attitude to maintain altitude as airspeed
decreases to 200 KIAS
-
Descend as required
