TACAN and VOR Procedures
(5) Level off at minimum penetration
altitude
(a) 1,000 ft above level-off
altitude (do not exceed
minute to live rule):
decrease pitch by 1/2 and
retract speed brakes
(b) At normal lead point
(10 percent of the VSI):
adjust nose attitude and
power for level flight
(6) When ready to slow to 200 KIAS,
reduce power
(7) Extend speed brakes (if not
already extended)
(8) Adjust pitch to maintain altitude as
airspeed decreases
(9) Lower gear/retract speed brakes
(10) Lower full flaps/slats (one-half
flaps may be used for touch/roll
and go)
(11) Complete landing checklist prior to
FAF
(12) Adjust power to maintain on-speed

FAF to MAP
NOTE: If the station is located at the field,
the completion of penetration turn is
considered to be the FAF. If the station is
away from the field, station passage is
normally the FAF, and timing determines
the MAP.
