TACAN and VOR Procedures
(4) If penetration turn is required, do
not exceed 30 degrees AOB
(5) Level off at published altitude
What is the procedure for leveling off from a
?
penetration descent?
ANSWER:
1. 1,000 ft above level-off altitude (do not exceed
the minute to live rule): decrease nose attitude
by 1/2 and retract speed brakes.
2.
At normal lead point (10 percent of the VSI):
adjust nose attitude for level flight and increase
power as required to maintain 250 KIAS.
(6) At 5 to 7 nm from FAF
(a) Reduce power
(b) Extend speed brakes (if not
already extended)
(c) Adjust nose attitude to
maintain altitude as airspeed
decreases to 200 KIAS;
descend as required
(d) Lower gear/retract speed
brakes
(e) Lower full flaps/slats (for other
than full stop landings, one-
half flaps may be used)
