Course Rules
“Base, SHAD 135 is up and
outbound”
You would like to complete the takeoff checklist
while taxiing because the marshall area looks
crowded. Your Instructor Pilot (IP) graciously agrees
to TAKE CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT while you
perform the items on the checklist

With the checklist complete the IP returns control of
the aircraft to you as you approach the hold short
line. The aircraft on the runway has commenced his
takeoff roll. Call for take off on button 3:
“McCain tower, SHAD 135
takeoff”
“Shad 135, cleared for takeoff
Runway 19R. Contact departure
control on frequency 343.7 when
safely airborne”
8.
You switch the IFF to NORMAL, taxi onto the
runway and align the aircraft with the centerline.
Holding the brakes, you advance the throttle, check
power and select Departure Control on button 4
(keeping button 3 on second radio for backup). The
engine checks OK. You release the brakes and
commence the takeoff roll
9.
Safely airborne and with gear up you call Departure
Control:
“Departure Control, SHAD 135
300”
10 Departure Control answers:
“Roger SHAD 135,
IDENT”.....“Radar contact 1 mile
south of the field, climb and
maintain 10,000”
