UJPT BIFP-07, E2-C2 & IUT BIFP-03
GCA Procedures
(4) Slow to on-speed AOA (verify against airspeed) - (when within
10 nm and within 30 degrees of heading of the FAC)
(5) At descent point - extend speed brakes, adjust power (if re-
quired), commence descent on-speed, and complete landing
checklist
COMMON ERROR: Not descending to MDA with enough time to
level off and stabilize prior to MAP
COMMON ERROR: Maintaining 150 KIAS instead of on-speed
AOA.
b.
Control
(1) Make a level SRT (approximately 20 degree AOB) to final ap-
proach assigned heading
(2) Reduce power
(3) Maintain level flight and slow to on-speed AOA
(4) Verify on-speed AOA against airspeed
(5) Adjust power, pitch, and trim to maintain hands-off flight and on-
speed
COMMON ERROR: Late slowing to on-speed AOA and slow to
trim.
COMMON ERROR: Allowing aircraft to descend below assigned
altitude.
(6) At descent point, extend speed brakes and adjust power and
attitude as required to establish desired descent rate to reach
MDA before MAP
NOTE: Recommended altitudes (based usually on a descent rate
approximately 300 ft/nm) may be requested from the controller.
NOTE: Establish a rate of descent that will keep you slightly
ahead of the controllers schedule of descent (500-700 fpm
depending on the wind)
