b. If the next regularly scheduled event is a solo flight,
then the previous dual instructional flight shall be scheduled as
a warm-up to ensure the student is safe for solo.
c. If the period between events is between 14 and 90 days in
phase, the squadron CO shall schedule the student for a maximum
of 1 warm-up flight event for every 15 days of delay. The
maximum number of warm-ups will be 7 events corresponding to a 90
day delay. At the completion of the warm-ups, or when
proficiency is regained, the student shall resume the normal
curriculum flow. If the student has not regained proficiency
sufficient to resume training following the maximum allowable
number of warm-ups, the student shall be referred to a PRB per
paragraph 807.
d. If the period between events is greater than 90 days in
phase, the squadron CO shall schedule the student for a minimum
of 5 warm-up flight events up to a maximum of 1 warm-up event for
every 15 days of delay. At the completion of the warm-ups, or
when proficiency is regained, the student shall resume the normal
curriculum flow. If the student has not regained proficiency
sufficient to resume training following the maximum allowable
number of warm-ups, the student shall be referred to a PRB per
paragraph 807.
e. Student pools or delays in excess of 60 days between
training phases (primary, intermediate, advanced, T-45TS) are
neither expected nor desired due to the adverse impact on student
proficiency and time-to-train. However, unforeseen circumstances
may occasionally result in delays between phases in excess of 60
days. To minimize the impact of these delays on student
proficiency, the losing and gaining TRAWING commanders, in
coordination with CNATRA N3, shall carefully consider retaining
affected students at the completed training site until 30 days
prior to their scheduled start date in the subsequent phase.
This period shall be included in time-to-train for the subsequent
phase of training. During this period, retained students shall
be scheduled for 1 warm-up flight and 1 warm-up simulator event
every 15 days. The intent is for students to complete 1 warm-up
event per week, alternating between flight and simulator events
each week.
(1) Warm-up flights may be any previously completed flight
event, with an emphasis on visual maneuvers, landings, and
emergency procedures pertinent to the subsequent phase of
training where possible.
(2) Warm-up simulators may be any previously completed
simulator event, with an emphasis on instrument maneuvers,
instrument approaches, and emergency procedures pertinent to the
subsequent phase of training where possible.
