Night Emergency Procedures
NOTE: Pilots returning to Meridian without
a functioning radio should approach the
standard overhead pattern rocking their
wings during the daytime or with external
lights bright and flashing and the anti-
collision light/strobe operating at night. Pick
your own interval for the break. Transmit in
the blind, over UHF. The control tower will
use appropriate light signals to indicate
landing clearance. Expected to land on
same runway used for departure.

Signal: hold flashlight close to top of
canopy, point toward other aircraft, and
present dashes to indicate system

(1) Hydraulic system: 1 dash
(2) Electric system: 2 dashes
(3) Fuel system: 3 dashes
(4) Oxygen system: 4 dashes
(5) Engine: 5 dashes

Response
(1) Affirmative: move flashlight
vertically repeatedly
(2) Negative: move flashlight
horizontally repeatedly

Lower or raise landing gear and flaps as
appropriate
