At what altitude should you perform an overfly to
determine the duty runway in a lost COMM situation
at your home field?
ANSWER: Overfly the field above 3,000 AGL to
determine the duty runway. If there is no visible air or
ground traffic, try to determine the prevailing wind and
select your approach runway, accordingly. Monitor
VOR audio for possible instructions.
E. Aircraft-to-aircraft signals (night)
NOTE: Primary communications at night are
normally accomplished by radio, but in NORDO
conditions flashlight/lighting configuration
signals are used for aircraft-to-aircraft
