EXAMPLE: At 15,000 ft MSL,
reduce power to IDLE and estab-
lish 190-200 KIAS at 45 nm
(3 x 15 = 45).
(2) If airspeed is above 190-200 KIAS
(a) Reduce power to maintain
altitude until aircraft deceler-
ates to 190-200 KIAS
(b) Lower nose to maintain
190-200 KIAS in descent
(c) Lead level off by 10% of rate
of descent above desired
altitude
d.
Cruise descent: used to maximize
speed en route and when requested
by ATC (Fam flights will utilize
250 KIAS)
(1) If entry airspeed is 250 KIAS,
reduce power as necessary to
maintain 1,500 to 2,000 fpm rate
of descent or as directed
(2) If entry airspeed is other than
250 KIAS
(a) If entry airspeed is above
250 KIAS, reduce power first;
when 250 KIAS attained,
lower nose to maintain 1,500
to 2,000 fpm rate of descent
(b) If airspeed is below 250 KIAS,
lower nose first, accelerate to
250 KIAS, then adjust power
to maintain 1,500- to 2,000-
fpm rate of descent
(3) Maintain 250 KIAS
