Engine Start Procedures
c.
Fuel flow slowly rises with rpm to idle
flow of 300-400 pph
d.
At starter cut-out speed (45% rpm)
(1) Start control unit shuts down GTS
and GTS and ROTATION advisory
lights extinguish
(2) Engine ignition units deenergize
(igniters quit firing)
e.
During ground starts, the
GENERATOR warning light will
extinguish when a suitable DC output
is obtained (25 to 25.2 VDC at
approximately 42% rpm); this may
occur as high as 61% rpm due to weak
permanent magnets in generator.
6.
When RPM and EGT stabilize, check:

a.
All warning/caution panel lights - OUT
EXCEPT HYD 2 PRESS, CANOPY (if
open or unlocked), AND OXYGEN
b.
RPM - NOTE, APPROXIMATELY 52%
(ENGINE BLEED VALVE NOT YET
CLOSED)
c.
EGT - NOTE, 450 DEGREES C
MAXIMUM (340-350 normal in
simulators)

Post-start
Overlay 8
1.
Throttle - ADVANCE SLOWLY TO
70% RPM
CAUTION: Following a start, do not
advance the throttle rapidly before the
bleed valve closes, as there is a
possibility that the engine will overheat.
CLOSE BLEED VALVE
Once the bleed valve is closed, there are
