1.
Advise approach of intentions to make
straight-in approach prior to 5-nm initial
2.
Dirty up aircraft, perform landing checklist
and complete AOA-airspeed check prior to
3 nm at 1,000 ft MSL
3.
At 3 nm from touchdown, descend to 500 ft
AGL, on-speed
4.
Continue straight-in at 500 ft AGL until you
acquire visual glideslope (using the ball)
5.
Begin final descent, remaining on glides-

VFR Pattern
NOTE: Attempt to maintain proper altitude and
airspeed by adjusting pattern and by modulating
* Normal VFR recovery
speed brakes.
* Alternate field entries
* Precautionary approaches
A. Reasons
* Overhead pattern break
* Normal landing pattern
* Full flap/slat landings
1.
Designed to keep pilot within safe ejection
* Pattern corrections: all
envelope until safe landing can be made
configuration landings
* Tracking glideslope: basic
2.
Utilized when malfunctions increase possi-
corrections
* Crosswind landings
bility of engine failure and require limited
* Waveoff
throttle movement
* Full flap/slat roll and go
landing
* No flap/slat landings
