a.
Starting 180-degree position too early
* No flap/slat landings
results in a close 90-degree position
and a high start: immediate gildeslope
corrections will be required
b.
Starting 180-degree position too late
results in a deep 90-degree position
and a low start: immediate glideslope
corrections will be required
B. Corrective action: to fly consistent ground
tracks on all landing patterns, make the follow-
ing pattern adjustments
1.
For overshooting winds, establish crab
angle during downwind and increase AOB
during approach turn
2.
For undershooting winds, establish crab
angle during downwind and decrease AOB
during approach turn in order to arrive at
desired 90-degree and start positions
NOTE: Adjust your AOB as required
during the approach turn in order to reach
the correct 90, 45, and start positions.
