Properly identify abeam position by verify-
ing that you are, in fact, directly across from
touchdown area (abeam the optical landing
system)
4.
Count 15 seconds from the abeam position
to identify the 180-degree properly. If you
identify the 180-degree position correctly
and make the necessary approach turn
corrections, you will reach the 90-degree
position at the correct altitude and distance
from the touchdown area
NOTE: Subtract 1 second from your count
from the abeam position to the 180-degree
position for every knot of reported head
wind.
5.
For each glideslope/lineup adjustment,
three separate corrections are normally
required, coordinating stick/throttle move-
ments
