CHAPTER XI
NAVAL AVIATION CADET (NAVCAD) ADMINISTRATION
1100. DISCUSSION. The NAVCAD program was re-established in
March 1988. This chapter provides guidelines for the
administration of all NAVCADs assigned to the Naval Air Training
Command (NATRACOM).
1101.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
a. OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL. Military indoctrination drill
and discipline will be provided during Officer Candidate School
(OCS). NAVCADs will follow the same training flow as and are
subject to the same regulations as Officer Candidates while
assigned to OCS except for: NAVCADs will be issued a standard
U.S. Armed Forces ID card with "NAVCAD" indicated under "Grade".
b.
Post OCS.
NAVCADs will follow the same flight training
syllabus and will be required to maintain the same academic and
flight grade standards as their commissioned counterparts except
as modified below.
(1) Training Jackets. An aviation training jacket will be
utilized to maintain a record of training. The word "NAVCAD"
shall be stamped on the front of the jacket in one inch high
letters.
(2) Vehicle Decals.
NAVCADs with motor vehicles shall be
issued officer decals.
(3) Civilian Clothes.
Normal off-duty wearing of civilian
clothes is authorized.
(4) Messing. NAVCADs will have the option of utilizing
either the Officers' Club or enlisted dining facility (EDF).
PERSUPP DETs will issue special meal identification card which
exempts NAVCADs from a surcharge on meals in the EDF. If
feasible, a designated area for NAVCAD dining will be reserved in
the EDF.
(5) Officer Club Fees. NAVCADs are exempt from Officers'
Club fees. Normal meal prices will be charged.
(6) Berthing
(a) NAVCADs shall be berthed in the bachelor officers
quarters (BOQ), one or two per room. If feasible, a designated
area/wing should be reserved for NAVCAD occupancy. NAVCADs are
not authorized to live off base.
