Flight Controls
T-45A UJPT, E2-C2, ADV, & IUT Eng-11
(1) Location: adjacent to stabilator
trim actuators
(2) Function: acts in conjunction with
inertia weights and two viscous
dampers to provide the pilot with
artificial "feel" of aerodynamic
forces acting on control surfaces
e.
Speed brake interconnect actuator
(1) Location: stabilator control box,
forward of PCU
(2) Function: sends speedbrake
position signals to yaw damper
controller. Receives input signals
from yaw damper controller and
moves stabilator to counter pitch
transients due to speedbrake
extension/retraction
NOTE: Without interconnect,
nose would pitch up when speed
brakes are extended below 0.2-
0.7 mach and pitch down when
speed brakes are extended above
0.7 mach.
NOTE: SADS, stabilization
augmentation data sensor,
provides mach and airspeed
information to yaw damper
