TACAN and VOR Procedures
MOTIVATION
Suppose that you are in deteriorating weather conditions
and need to fly into an unfamiliar airfield. You must know
approach procedures for your aircraft.
Your ability to make approaches, whether TACAN/VOR
DME, or VOR, is essential for cross-country flights where
you will encounter a variety of navigational aids, weather
conditions, and airfield/runways. To fly a safe and
successful approach, you must understand and apply the
appropriate approach procedures.
OVERVIEW
After completing this lesson, you will have refreshed your
memory of station passage, course intercepts and
tracking, the penetration checklist, communication
procedures for approach, and the three types of
navigational facilities and their accompanying
approaches that you will use to position your aircraft at
the MDA.
