HSI uses acquisition flag marked NAV

Bearing pointer No. 1 located at three oclock (right wing)
NOTE: Acquisition of the localizer will place the NAV flag
out of view.

CDI displays deviation left or right of centerline; each dot
represents 1-1/4 degree deviation (responds 4X as
sensitive)
NOTE: When the localizer information becomes invalid,
the HSI course deviation indicator centers and a red flag,
marked NAV, comes into view.
d.
GS pointer displays deviation above or below glidepath
NOTE: When glideslope information becomes invalid, the
GS pointer will freeze at a random position.
