Start, Ground, and Takeoff Emergency Procedures
MOTIVATION
An emergency, by definition, is an unexpected occurrence that
requires immediate action. However, the old expression: "Do
something, even if it's wrong" doesn't apply here. Have students
study this material, review NATOPS, practice in the trainer, ask
questions, and discuss rationale. Be satisfied that they can
respond to each emergency or combination of emergencies with
confident, accurate checklist actions.
OVERVIEW
The information in the EMFP stage will provide your students with
the knowledge necessary to handle emergencies and other
malfunctions occurring from the time the students start the engine
until they land and shut down on the ramp. The EMFP stage
consists of lectures and simulator events. The lectures will
provide more detailed information about the various emergency
procedures. In the simulator, the students will put these
procedures into practice in preparation for their first flight in the
T-45A.
