Engine
LECTURE NOTES (cont.)
The system is used to provide the pilot with a reduced
throttle response time, particularly important when the
aircraft is on final approach to land.
SOLENOID VALVE
The solenoid valve is mounted on a bracket from the
engine cambox and comprises a solenoid-controlled
valve, flow restrictor, and electrical contacts to provide
a cockpit indication.
OPERATION
There are two modes of operation:
NORMAL FLOW + 25 gph
In the normal mode, upon movement of the pilot's
lever, the fuel flow to the initial shot port is metered by
the flow controlling restrictor only.
INCREASED FLOW + 75 gph
In increased flow mode, the fuel flow to the initial shot
port is metered by both the restrictor and the open
solenoid valve providing the pilot with a better throttle
response time.
