LECTURE NOTES
FCU
Explain characteristics of engine surge margin.
Explain how the initial shot solenoid affects engine
surge margin.
When the engine is accelerated, the first act of the
throttle valve assembly is movement of the inner
plunger; this provides an increase in fuel flow by
uncovering the initial shot port.
Fuel is supplied to the initial shot port from a solenoid
valve mounted on the engine cambox. This facilitates
the increase in fuel flow to the engine to be varied
according to flight conditions.
