Transition to landing configuration with speed
brake retracted (5-7 miles prior to glidepath
interception) and to on-speed within 3-5 miles,
trim

Reduce power (extend speed brakes if
necessary)

Lower gear and full flaps/slats passing 200
KIAS
(3)
Correct attitude for resultant lift change
from flaps/slats
(4)
Retract speed brakes, if used, and adjust
power
(5)
Establish an attitude reference and power
setting for on-speed level flight condition
(6)
Trim as required throughout maneuver
(7)
Intercept and maintain localizer course
NOTE: You are considered established on the
approach once the azimuth deviation bar (ADB) or
CDI starts movement off full deflection.

Scan
a.
Use azimuth deviation bar and CDI to establish/
maintain localizer course
b.
Use glideslope deviation bar and HSI DME and
glideslope pointer to monitor progress to
intercept point of ILS glidepath
