CDI

CDI
B. Course deviation indicator (CDI) 2.7.5.1.1.2.1
1.
Purpose: displays aircraft position right or left of a selected course
2.
Indications
a.
When CDI is centered, aircraft is on selected course
b.
Bar moves laterally to indicate if aircraft is right or left of course +/-10
degrees (inbound or outbound)
NOTE: The T-45A HSI will always provide normal CDI sensing when
either the TACAN or VOR is in use. CDI reverse sensing can only
occur when a localizer frequency is tuned and either of the following
conditions are set: 1) on a front course approach with the course
selected 180 degrees out from the course flown; 2) on a backcourse
approach with the course for the backcourse selected. Normal CDI
sensing will always occur if the front course is selected when on
either a front or backcourse localizer approach.
3.
CAUTION: The CDI is shared by TACAN, VOR, and ILS. Reliability of
CDI display is dependent on proper management of the following:
a.
Channels and frequencies
b.
CDI switch
c.
NAV transfer switch
