DELIVERY PROCEDURES
Having discussed the factors that affect the path of a weapon, we can now introduce the procedures and
techniques for a weapons run. Except where otherwise noted, these procedures apply to all patterns
and ordnance used in the Training Command.
GUIDELINES FOR PIPPER PLACEMENT
The following are rules of thumb used to determine how far below the target the pipper should be during
different phases of the tracking run. Using interpolation, these guidelines are how we determine our
initial sight settings.
1.
Two-thirds of the mil setting below the aimpoint at three times the release altitude.
2.
One-half of the mil setting below the aimpoint at two times the release altitude.
3.
One-third of the mil setting below the aimpoint at one and a half times the release altitude.
