SCHEDULING
1. General. The Commanding Officer, NAS Pensacola, shall
establish and disseminate a routine operating schedule for HLT
support of UHPT to consist of two days of flight operations per
week, with a third day designated as a back-up, when required.
UHPT operations within these days need no additional approval or
coordination with CNATRA. Operations in support of UHPT on days
other than those designated require coordination with, and the
concurrence of, Commander Training Air Wing (COMTRAWING) FIVE, and
the OIC, NAS DET HLT. Operations involving aircraft other than in
support of UHPT require the specific approval of CNATRA.
2. Undergraduate Helicopter Pilot Training. Training operations
by NATRACOM aircraft shall be governed by COMTRAWING FIVE.
a. Shall schedule and coordinate NATRACOM overhead times for
HLT operations for the days established by Commanding Officer,
NAS Pensacola.
b. Shall coordinate the conduct of NATRACOM flight operations
aboard the HLT.
c. Is authorized direct liaison with OIC, NAS DET HLT to
effect the most efficient use of the HLT for UHPT.
d. Shall notify the OIC, NAS DET HLT at the earliest possible
opportunity if training requirements are such that the HLT need
not get underway on any specific day, but not later than 1500 on
the day preceding the operations.
e. Shall provide a Helicopter Control Officer (HCO) and two
LSEs (one may be under instruction) on days when UHPT operations
will occur.
3. Fleet Units. Units not involved in UHPT shall request use of
the HLT from CNATRA (N3) by message, info COMTRAWING FIVE,
COMTRAWING SIX, NAS Pensacola, and NAS DET HLT Pensacola, FL.
Requests shall include the extenuating circumstances requiring use
of IX-514, the type of aircraft, number of pilots to be qualified,
landings per pilot, and necessary amplifying data along with a
point of contact for the requesting unit. Requests should be
submitted no less than 14 days prior to the desired operations,
with earlier notification desired. The Helicopter Control
LSEs, and flight deck crew shall be provided by the requesting
unit. Units unable to provide a qualified HCO or LSEs shall
contact the OIC, NAS DET HLT, to coordinate HCO and LSE training;
