NON-ACADEMIC ATTRITES
4.1 MOTIVATION. Attrition is due to student disinterest in
training or unwillingness to perform, not to student inability.
These codes are to be used where in the opinion of the review
board and given the student's past history, the student did not
exert the effort required for satisfactory performance.
**NOTE**
Students in this category are disqualified for
any further SNP or SNFO training and are given
a negative recommendation for any military
pilot or flight officer training.
a.
Reason of:
Negative Navy/Military Attitude
To be used: Student displays lack of interest in Navy or
military as an occupational field. All reasonable counseling and
remedial measures have failed to correct this lack of motivation.
Includes lack of aptitude for commissioned service.
b.
Reason of:
Expressed/Drop on Request (DOR)
To be used: Student displays lack of interest in
training and has expressed desire to withdraw/DOR. This code
will be used in all cases where the student requests to drop and
no board action is pending.
c. Reason of:
Demonstrated Lack of Performance Due to Not
School of Choice
To be used: Student has demonstrated lack of performance
by documenting that this was not his/her school or career field
choice. Student's performance in training supports this decision
for attrition.
d. Reason of: Demonstrated Lack of Performance Due to
School Not What Was Expected
To be used: Student has demonstrated lack of performance
by documenting that this school was his/her school of choice but
was not what he/she expected. Student's performance in training
supports this decision for attrition.
