ATTRITION CODES
1. Attrition codes fall into four categories. If the final
outcome of the attrite is known, the attrition code detailing
final action will be used. If the final outcome is not known,
the predisposition attrite code will be used pending final
outcome. Once known, the final attrite code must be used.
a. Predisposition: The student is being attrited, but final
status of the student is not known. This code will be used
mostly by squadrons. The TRAWING will change this to the final
disposition code once all action on the attrite is completed.
b. Reassigned/Transferred: This final code will be used in
cases where the student is attrited from a Naval Air Training
Command (NATRACOM) course, but will be transferred to a different
location to reattempt the course. This category will not usually
be used by NATRACOM activities.
c. Discharged/Separated/Deserted: This final code will be
used when a student is attrited from NATRACOM courses and will
not be retained in the Naval service. It will also be used when
a student is attrited as a deserter.
d. Reclassified: This final code will be used when the
student is attrited from a NATRACOM course and will be retained
in the Naval service in a different rating or specialty (i.e.
Pilot to Surface Warfare, Aircrew to Submarine, etcetera).
NOTE:
In cases where a student initiates request for termination
of training, but is subject to board action, the attrite
code for the action pending will be used.
2.
FLIGHT ATTRITES
**NOTE**
Students in this category are disqualified for
any further naval pilot training and are given
a negative recommendation for any military
pilot training.
a.
Reason of:
Flight (SNP) or Practical Work (SNFO) Failure
To be used:
When poor flight (SNP) or practical work
(SNFO) performance
indicates that further training is not
warranted (failing
flight checks, poor headwork, simulator
failures, crashes,
dangerous flying, exceeding reasonable time to
train, etcetera).
