T-6A INSTRUMENT NAVIGATION
NOTE
Students are not allowed to update the estimate for the point after
reaching two-minutes prior point.
2. MOT CALL: The MOT call shall be given over the ICS as station passage occurs. Clear
the turn, if in VMC and report "Clear left/right" then give the MOT call. The format is:
a.
"Turn ________, heading _______"
b.
"Time is __________"
c.
"Place is _________"
d.
"Fuel on board is ___________"
e.
"NAVAID is switching to ____; or remains the same."
3. WINGS LEVEL (WL) CALL: The WL call will be initiated after the aircraft is
established on its outbound heading and after you have checked your navigation and initiated any
required course corrections. The format is:
a.
"We are + ________ from preflight fuel."
b.
"EFR at the IAF will be_________."
TIMING
Both front and rear cockpit elapsed timers will be synchronized during the Instrument Checklist
while taxiing. Be as accurate as possible with the MOT (to the nearest second) and time estimate
values. State time in minutes and seconds only. For example, 0915 and 30 seconds should be
stated as "15+30" (One five plus three zero).
FUELS
The MOT fuel should be figured immediately after completion of the two-minute prior call by
checking your fuel and subtracting 15 pounds. (which approximates what you will burn in the
next 2 minutes).
TIME-FUEL UPDATES
Times and fuels may be updated as often as possible. The first step in updating your time
estimate should occur after completion of the WL call. Ensure your MOT time plus the next leg
time (ETE) adds up to your time estimate. Anytime you obtain a GS check, update your time
estimates. Time estimates may be changed right up to the next two-minute prior point. Any
changes between 2 minutes prior and the turnpoint will not be accepted.
