Flare Distance
Flare distance is the ground distance covered from the 50-foot height to touchdown.
Landing Ground Roll Distance
Landing ground roll distance is the ground distance covered from touchdown to full stop using
normal braking procedures.
Total Landing Distance
Total landing distance is the sum of flare distance and ground roll distance. Only total landing
distance data is presented.
Maximum Braking Speed
Maximum Braking Speed (VB) is the brake application speed from which the aircraft may be
brought to a full stop without exceeding the energy absorption capability of the brakes. This
energy absorption corresponds to the fuse plug brake energy, 4.05 million ft-lbs/brake.
Brake Application Speed
Brake application speed is the actual speed at the time of applying braking force. This speed
must be equal to or less than VB in order to ensure fuse plug integrity.
