504. GROUND/DEPARTURE PROCEDURES
Section Line Procedures
Start up and line procedures are identical to those used in the FAM stage. Once your aircraft is
complete with final checks a thumbs-up will be passed to the lead. It is important to note the
side number of your wingman so a thumbs-up can be passed to the correct jet at the appropriate
time. As always, take care of your aircraft first, and then attend to formation responsibilities on
the deck.
Section Taxi
The lead is responsible for obtaining flight clearance for the entire flight. The clearance is
normally obtained before leaving the line area and then passed to the flight after all aircraft pass
a thumbs-up, signaling completion of their respective final checks.
LEAD: "Turbo."
WING: "Two."
LEAD: "RKT 203 cleared NPA-550 as filed, right turn 150 climb and maintain three thousand,
expect one-zero thousand 10 minutes after departure, departure frequency 270.8, squawk 1234.
No questions, button 3."
WING: "Two."
The lead aircraft will then check out on base (if departing from NPA) and call for taxi clearance
for the flight.
LEAD: "Base, RKT 203 outbound."
LEAD: (Ground freq): "Turbo."
WING: "Two."
