three plane "Battle Triad" (Figure 8-2). These formations are designed to maximize mutual

support while enabling division maneuverability.

NOTE

Although Shelby Range is our primary target for the division

WEPS sortie, a scheduling conflict, squadron detachment, or

weather considerations may require use of another target. In this

case, an alternate target will be briefed.

As each section runs across the target , a Tac Turn will be executed to the left (into the lead of

each section). After completing the Tac Turn , the lead will make an easy turn climbing to the

release altitude (for the first pattern planned) and the flight should rejoin in right cruise echelon

(Figure 8-3). Once the formation is established inbound to the target on the run-in heading, a

"trim run/spacer pass" will be executed.
