SECTION LOW ALTITUDE TACTICS AND PROCEDURES
CHAPTER SIX
Figure 6-11 Shackle To Redress Section
Primary lookout doctrine should be to track the turn while in an angle of bank with an occasional
scan for obstructions. Once wings level in the 45 heading change, both aircraft should check the
mutual 6 o'clock of the section. The wingman is again responsible for deconfliction.
COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS DURING TURNS
Communication requirements are kept to a minimum during low-level section maneuvering since
the mission is to achieve undetected low-level ingress. If there is doubt as what turn the section
is trying to execute, a UHF call will be made. During the Weapons stage the IPs will make the
UHF calls if required. Examples of execution calls for turns:
1.
Tac Turn - LEAD: "Turbo, Tac Left." WINGMAN: "Two."
2.
Check Turn Comms not required.
3.
Nav Turn - LEAD: "Turbo, Left 60, Go." WINGMAN: "Two."
