JOINT ADVANCED MULTI-ENGINE T-44A
c.
Brief intentions for an emergency immediately after departure:
VFR: "For an emergency after takeoff requiring an immediate return to the airport, we will maintain VFR
and request a downwind for runway 13R." or
IFR: "For an emergency after takeoff requiring an immediate return to the airport, we will request vectors
for the TACAN 1 13R Approach."
d.
IFR brief:
"Back me up during all phases of flight providing assistance as required. Ensure all radios are properly set,
including the CP CDI, RMI, and Marker Beacon. Handle all communications as directed. Record all
clearances, headings, altitudes, frequencies, and ATIS information. Call out approaching assigned altitude
when within 1000 feet, approaching MDA/DH when 100 feet above, anytime airspeed is abnormal, and any
abnormal pitch or roll."
5. When reaching "Anti-ice/De-ice" (Item # 19) on the Takeoff Checklist, hold the checklist and call for further
taxi:
"Navy Corpus Ground, Navy Golf/Montana 412, further taxi."
6. Approaching the hold short, request takeoff clearance:
VFR: "Navy Corpus Tower, Montana 412, number one, holding short, VFR to Seagull/Homefield
Bounce/Sunrise Departure/Portland Departure/Departure Option." or
IFR: "Navy Corpus Tower, Navy Golf/412, number one, holding short, IFR release."
NOTE: To eliminate unnecessary chatter on an already busy frequency, call Tower only if you are number one or
two in line (VFR or IFR) for departure.
Responses to Tower clearances:
a.
If instructed to hold short:
"Navy Golf/Montana 412, hold short."
b.
If instructed to taxi into position and hold:
"Navy Golf/Montana 412, position and hold."
c.
If cleared for takeoff:
"Navy Golf/Montana 412, cleared for takeoff."
d.
Tower may also clear an aircraft to cross a runway and give an instruction as in (a), (b), or (c) above. In
this case, read back the entire clearance:
"Navy Golf/Montana 412, cross 13L, position and hold 13R."
7. Initial contact with Departure:
VFR: "Corpus Departure, Montana 412, off Navy Corpus, passing 800 for 2500."
IFR: "Corpus Departure, Navy Golf/412, off Navy Corpus, passing 1000 for 1500."
NOTE: If canned departure changed after going to tower frequency or suspect some confusion with approach
knowing what departure you are flying, it is a good idea to specify departure name i.e. "Bay 4."
8. Approaching the CRP 130 at 26 enroute to Seagull:
"Corpus Departure, Montana 412, terminate."
9. Initial contact with Seagull:
"Seagull, Montana 412, on the 130, 065 climb radial, passing three thousand for block 3 central."
