Landing criteria from an IFR approach
2.9.4.5.1.2--landing minimums and criteria for
continuing an instrument approach below the
DH/DA or MDA are different for the civil and
military pilot. Criteria for operating below the
DH/DA or MDA for civilian pilots is clearly
stated in FAR 91.175(c)(3), landing criteria for
Navy pilots is stated in OPNAV 3710.7 para
5.3.3.4, but it is not stated as definitively.
Criteria for the Navy pilot continuing an
approach to a landing is stated as:
"Pilots shall not descend below the prescribed
MDA or continue an approach below the DH/
DA unless they have the runway environment
in sight, and, in their judgement, a safe
