Tactical Formation

Normally above and behind engaged fighter,

outside his turn with approximately 2000 ft

vertical separation and 2000 ft nose-to-tail

Reduce AOB as necessary to hold up nose,

preserving vertical separation

Adjust radius of turn to maintain position

Remain outside of turn until approximately 2000

ft nose-to-tail separation on engaged fighter

(1) If acute, do not let nose fall below horizon--

roll wings level to let engaged fighter

generate nose-to-tail

(2) If approaching engaged fighter's flight path

in turn, reduce AOB until nose-to-tail

separation develops
