Cover" (Video)
WARNING: The free fighter is tasked with overall
responsibility for maintaining separation,
keeping sight and avoiding a midair collision
while changing roles or transitioning from low/
high cover. The free fighter must preserve the
500-foot bubble. The free fighter will never
engage from forward of the 4/8 position while
outside the engaged fighter. Although the
engaged fighter cannot always maintain visual
contact, he too is tasked with collision
avoidance responsibility. While the free fighter
is coming down from high cover to engage, it is
absolutely mandatory that he preserve the 500-
foot bubble. Mutual lookout is the key to
avoiding midair collisions.
NOTE: The free fighter should always be in a
position to engage from either high or low cover.

Roll aircraft

Place lift vector inside engaged fighter's turn in
lead pursuit
c.
Pull as required in order to place nose ahead
of engaged fighter's flight path. Do not pull too
hard or aft of engaged fighter, or you may bury
the nose
