marker beacon light works
NOTE: According to the FAA, middle
marker (MM) beacons are no longer
required for ILS or localizer-only
approaches. Nonetheless, many MM
beacons are still indicated on ILS plates.
The FAA says that they should be
considered information-only assets. The
MM mayor may notbe positioned
coincidental with the published missed
approach point: ILS or localizer-only.
The missed approach point on a localizer-
only may be identified with a DME mileage
in addition to stop watch timing from the
FAF. According to the FAA, ILS localizer-
only missed approach points should not be
identified only by means of a MM beacon.
