Fuselage Tank Venting
(a) Vented to atmosphere
through dual-setting pressure
relief valve and a bleed
orifice arranged in parallel.
Both are connected to the
main vent pipe terminating at
the AFT end of the fuselage
adjacent to the tailpipe
(b) Normal pressure relief occurs
at pressure in excess of 6.0
psi
(c) Reduced pressure relief of
4.0 psi when tail hook is down
or
(i)
FLIGHT/REFUEL/
DEFUEL switch is set to
REFUEL (163600
through 163646)
(ii) Refueling panel RESET
button is not depressed,
refueling panel door open
(163647 through 163712)
(d) Bleed valve is electrically held
closed when the fuselage tank
is full and when the launch
bar is not retracted with
weight on wheels (to prevent
venting of fuel during catapult
launch)
(e)
Overpressurization relief
occurs at pressures in excess
of 9.5 psi
(4) External fuel vent is located on
upper left side of the tail cone
