Cockpit pressurization: maintains cockpit
pressure at predetermined value with
respect to aircraft altitude
a.
Enables pneumatic canopy seal using
fifth-stage bleed air
b.
Safety relief valve ensures that
positive cockpit pressure differential
will not exceed 4.8 psi and that inward
negative cockpit differential pressure
will not exceed 0.5 psi
c.
Controls/switches/indicators
(1) Cabin altimeter
(2) CABIN ALT warning light indicates
cockpit altitude has exceeded
24,500 +/- 500 ft MSL
3.
Canopy defog
a.
Location: left and right base of
windscreen and below canopy rails in
both cockpits
b.
Function: distributes conditioned air
through canopy defogging ducts
c.
Switches/indicators/controls: cockpit
air conditioning knob positions
(1) OFF: deactivates air conditioning/
pressurization system and opens
RAM air valve
(2) NORMAL
(a) Directs 60% of airflow to body
sprays (eyeball diffusers)
(b) Directs 40% of airflow to
canopy/windscreen ducts
