What does the AOA system consist of, and
what is its primary function?
ANSWER:
1. The AOA system consists of the AOA indicator
and AOA indexer (located on the instrument panel
in both cockpits), the external approach lights
ANGLE OF ATTACK SYSTEM
(located on the nose landing gear), and the AOA
of the aircraft fuselage).
2.
The AOA system is primarily used during all
approaches and landings to provide pilots with the
necessary cues to maintain the precise airspeeds
necessary for making carrier landings.
