Failure indications
1.
Red "OFF" flag visible
2.
Erroneous indication
CAUTION: "OFF" flag signifies only a loss of power or indication that the
2 inch gyro is in the "cage-locked" position.
B.
Failure of standby gyro not a significant problem if ADI is functional
C.
Reliability after power loss
1.
3 inch gyro - up to 3 minutes
2.
2 inch gyro - minimum of 9 minutes
D.
Procedure
1.
Use ADI
2.
Check electrical system
3.
Check caging knob position (2 inch gyro)
4.
Watch for possible progressive failure
