Chapter I
General Instructions
1.
Syllabus Management
a.
Distribution.
Participating squadron personnel.
b. Interpretation. The syllabus is directive. Should
circumstances create situations not covered within the scope of
this syllabus, or a specific course of action appears to
conflict with other directives, consult CNATRA (N31).
c.
Deviations.
Document all deviations on the sortie's
ATF.
d. Changes. Recommended changes shall be submitted in
accordance with (IAW) CNATRAINST 1550.6E.
e.
Execution.
All students execute Chapters II through V.
f. Syllabus Description. This syllabus consists of two
stages of flight training referred to as the T-39 or T-1
Instrument and Navigation Stages. Each stage is flown in the
T-39 or T-1 and is divided into blocks. The training blocks
consist of a specified number of flights. Maneuver Item Files
(MIFs) identify the minimum acceptable level of performance in
relation to the CTS that must be achieved at the completion of
each training block.
g. Grade Calculation. The calculation for the Phase
Aggregate Score (PAS) is as follows:
From a population of previous students
PAS = 50 + 8.1(S-M1)/S1 + 0.9(M2-TGI)/S2 + (ACAD-M3)/S3
S Student's Score: Sum of the student's grades for
gradable maneuvers in the aircraft and the simulator divided by
the sum of the MIF for those maneuvers (Grade/MIF).
M1 Average Score
M2 Average of Total Graded Items (TGI)
M3 Average Academic Grade
S1 Standard Deviation Score
S2 Standard Deviation of TGI
S3 Standard Deviation of Academic Grades
TGI Total Graded items. Sum of number of graded maneuvers
