MODULE 02
JET TRANSITION
OBJECTIVES:
1. Basic Instrument Stage. To develop the IUT's instrument
flying skill with emphasis on scan, aircraft control, pattern and
instrument interpretation.
Basic Instrument Stage includes: Cockpit Orientation (CO-02S and
03S), Aviation Student Indoctrination (ASI-08) and Emergency
Flight Procedures (EMFP-01 through 08X); EP simulators (EP-01S
and 02S), Basic Instrument Flight Procedures (BIFP-01 through
07X), Basic Instruments simulators and flights (BI-01S through
BI-06X).
NOTE:
Basic Instruments (BI-01S through BI-06X) are normally
flown after completion of cockpit orientation, EMFP
lessons/EP simulators and BIFP lessons.
2. Radio Instrument Stage. To enable the IUT to navigate a jet
aircraft from takeoff to landing, excluding airways, under IFR
conditions with emphasis on scan development, instrument
interpretation, precision and non-precision approaches, aircraft
control and procedural knowledge. IUT will practice all
checklists.
Radio Instrument Stage includes: Radio Instrument Flight
Procedures (RIFP-01 through 05X); RI-01S through RI-07X and
Airways Navigation flights (AN-01 and 02).
NOTE 1:
RI-05, RI-06, and RI-07X may be flown as legs of a
cross-country.
NOTE 2:
One RI flight should be scheduled at night.
3. Familiarization Stage. To familiarize the IUT with normal
and emergency procedures in the aircraft with emphasis on system
operations, flight characteristics and landing techniques. The
module starts with two cockpit orientation simulators to
familiarize the IUT with cockpit features, checklists and
standardized operating procedures in preparation for learning
emergency flight procedures, instrument and familiarization
procedures.
Familiarization Stage include Course Rules (CR-02 and CR-03X);
Cockpit Orientation (CO-04 and CO-05), Familiarization Flight
Procedures (FAMFP-01 through 03X); Familiarization
simulator/flights (FAM-01S through 14); Out-of-Control Flight
Procedures (OCFFP-01); Out-of-Control simulator/flight (OCF-01S
and 02), Night Familiarization (NFAMFP-01 through 03X and
