APPENDIX A
1. JREF/NATOPS Training Objectives. The T-45A Strike
Designated Naval Aviator Jet Refresher NATOPS/Training
(JREF/NATOPS) Curriculum is designed to satisfy refresher
requirements for designated Naval Aviators who are: (a) not
current in Jet aircraft and/or (b) require only a NATOPS
qualification in the T-45A. The goal of all JREF/NATOPS is to
meet the appropriate terminal learning objectives within the
specified flight hour and calendar day limitations. Upon
satisfactory completion of the curriculum, the JREF/NATOPS will
be able to perform the following task objectives:
a. Aviation. Refresh previous skill in controlling the
aircraft dual or solo, day and night, in various meteorological
conditions and stages of flight as required.
b. Navigation. Refresh previous skill in maintaining
aircraft position within a desired geographical area or along a
desired ground track using visually acquired landmarks,
aircraft-installed electronic equipment, aeronautical charts,
voice communications with controlling agencies, and dead
reckoning techniques while complying with Federal Aviation
Regulations and standard operating procedures.
c. Communications. Refresh skills in communicating clearly
with ground facilities and with other aircraft using approved
radio procedures and light, hand, or aircraft maneuvering
signals as appropriate.
d. Systems Management. Refresh skills in the management of
delivery systems as required for successful mission completion.
e. Flight Planning. Refresh skills in planning the safe
conduct of each flight from preflight to mission completion
considering pilot, aircraft, and weather limitations.
f. Headwork. Refresh understanding of aerodynamics,
principles by the exercise of sound judgment while accomplishing
all training objectives. Compliance with all conditions and
standards shall be subordinated to the safety of the aircrew,
other personnel, and the aircraft.
