3.
Maneuvering to roll-in
a.
At 3-1/2 to 5 miles from target, split the
formation, turning 30 degrees off heading away
from wingman
b.
Apply MRT and climb to desired altitude to
intercept appropriate dive angle, airspace
restrictions permitting
c.
Adjust power and roll into appropriate dive
angle
d.
Maintain aircraft separation by delayed roll-in or
altitude differential at release
NOTE: Modify altitudes and dive angles
according to weather conditions, airspace
limitations, and target proximity. Some
flexibility may be required.
4.
Attack
a.
Track target
(1) Establish initial pipper placement
(2) Check dive angle, altitude, power setting,
and begin to track target
(3) At release altitude with attack solution,
"pickle", commence recovery
b.
Be alert for collision course
(1) Abort if on collision course; communicate
intentions
(2) If unable to attain a safe roll-in position,
abort the run
(3) Fly high cover if run aborted for safety
reasons
