INTERMEDIATE FLIGHT PREPARATION WORKBOOK
CHAPTER TWO
206. GROUND PROCEDURES
1.
After briefing a stereo route, it is the student's responsibility to get a Weather Brief. When
filing a DD 175, the P will pick up the DD 175-1 (Weather Brief). Once at the aircraft, a
thorough preflight of the aircraft shall be performed by all crewmembers.
2.  The sequence of copying ATIS and clearance may vary. However, you will contact Ground
and Base prior to taxiing. The importance of clearing the right side of the aircraft while the
aircraft is moving cannot be over emphasized.
3.
Taxiing:
a.
Clear the right side of the aircraft.
b.
When clear of the aircraft line, initiate the Taxi and Before Takeoff Checklists.
c.
In the hold short area, switch radio to Tower and set departure in the preset.

for takeoff.

1.  Once cleared for position and hold or takeoff verbalize, "Clearing the groove," and check
the status of the arresting gear. Complete the final two steps of the Lineup Checklist when
cleared for takeoff and lined up on the runway.
2.
On takeoff roll:
a.
Note the takeoff time.
b.
Call: "Off the peg."
c.
Call: "80 KTS" or accel check if required.
d.
Call: "S1."
e.
Call: "Rotate."
NOTE
If S1 differs from VROT, perform an acceleration check.
