Alphanumeric keypad
The CDU operations are organized into functional groups of LCD pages. Dedicated buttons are
used to access primary pages with primary groups of functions determined by frequency of use
or urgency criteria. Branching from the primary pages accesses secondary pages.
Display
1.
Line Select Keys - The 12 keys provide multiple functions depending on the page being
displayed.
2.
Buttons - The 16 buttons access CDU pages. You are primarily concerned with the
following:
a.
TUN - Radio tuning page
b.
PREV - Displays the previous page when the current display is multiple pages.
c.
NEXT - Displays the next page when the current CDU function has multiple pages.
d.
CLR DEL - Clears a character or deletes.

Alphanumeric Keypad - The alphanumeric keypad keys enter data into the FMS and radio
systems.
1011. WEATHER RADAR SYSTEM
The weather radar system provides a four-color weather display on the selected EHSI or MFD.
The system detects wet precipitation along the flightpath ahead of the aircraft. The MFD radar
display shows, in color, precipitation targets in terms of range and azimuth relative to the aircraft
heading as an aid in navigating around areas of heaviest rainfall. The system cannot detect clear
air turbulence, wind shear, clouds, or lightning. The system provides radar data up to 300
Nautical Miles (NM).
Weather Radar Selection
Weather radar information may be displayed on the MFD and either EHSI. When the MFD
index page radar select key (labeled RADAR) is pressed, the MFD displays the weather radar
display.
Radar Mode Line
The radar mode line displays the Radar Receiver/Transmitter Antenna (RTA) operating mode
and selected radar parameters. Operating modes are standby (labeled STBY), weather (labeled
